Confession is Good for the Soul

Hi, my name is Mish and I’m a TV-alcoholic.

TV

Boy, did that feel good!

Yes, it’s true.  I am completely and utterly obsessed with television.

So this week has been, like, the best week of the whole ding-dang year!!

Shows are back.

My DVR is full.

Life is good.

Gone are the days of watching an episode of Friends from 19 years ago that I’ve seen a half a bajillion times.

{Well, not gone really………it’s still a funny show!}

And can we pause right here and lament the fact that Friends first premiered 19 years ago?!?!?!?!?

NINETEEN YEARS!!!

How did that time go by so fast?????

Oh yeah…………I was watching TV!

Molly told me once that she hoped that God sent me a husband who would understand my crazy, TV-watching self.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say the Mr. understands it (or really anything about me) but at least he tolerates it pretty good!

And even though he does bug me from time to time to turn off the TV and go outside in all the fresh air, I’ve tried my best to pull him into the depths of my obsession.

And I believed that I had succeeded!!

Unfortunately for me, the Mr. declared that he didn’t want to start any NEW shows this year.

Unfortunately for the Mr., I have control of the remote!!

NEW SHOWS ABOUND!!

And in case you’re wondering about the “TV-alcoholic” remark from earlier, I’m not really drinking alcohol while watching TV.

Really, I’m not!

When my brother, Marc, was little he always said “work-alcoholic” instead of workaholic so it kinda stuck with our family and we use it for every “aholic”.

So no alcohol for me.

Just some Mt. Dew.

And Funyons.

And Dr. Who.

Or The Walking Dead.

Or Survivor.

Or Once Upon A Time.

Or Revolution.

Or CSI.

Or …………..oh never mind, the list is endless………..

Enjoy the new season…….reruns will be here before we know it!  🙂

And That Is Called Heartache, Madam!

So this past week was our annual trek to Louisville for the National Quartet Convention.  A fun time was had by all with lots of visiting with friends and lots of good music.

Of course, no trip with my family would be complete without a little drama.

Which is probably the main reason the Mr. chooses not to participate!!  🙂

Molly, Steve, Belle & I usually only go for the last three nights; mainly because we’re poor and have to work.  The rich ones (Marti & Kenny!) go for the whole week and since they are also so young and spry they somehow manage to work during part of the week.  Not sure how they do it!!!  I was exhausted by Wednesday and hadn’t even been yet!!!

Mom and Dad go for the whole week too and help work the booth for our good friends Tim and Mary Alice Lovelace.  They meet lots of interesting people, see lots of weird outfits, hear lots of stories and then usually forget most it before we get there!!

Sad but true!

We always manage to find some good places to eat as well.  One of our favorites is Mark’s Feed Store (or as the Mr. refers to it the “Feet” Store) but since the Mr. wasn’t going to make it, we decided to leave it for another time.

**I should probably mention here that the Mr. worked massive long overtime hours last week so while I was gallivanting around the countryside he was NOT slacking off!  I feel quite sure he’d want you to know that!!**

This year, Molly and Steve introduced me to a new place.

Buca di Beppo.

Oh my!!

It’s an Italian place and as soon as you pull into the parking lot, you can smell the garlic!

In the parking lot!

IN YOUR CAR!!

So you know it’s gonna be yummy!!!

They took us on a tour of the restaurant and the kitchen which was pretty cool.  The overall theme seems to be “Mobster Chic” which I didn’t even know was a thing.

I found this picture on their website of the room I want to sit in next time I go:

Notice the bust of the Pope on the table!!

What a hoot!!!

Or is that wrong of me???

No, I really think they intended it to be a hoot and not offensive.

{Please don’t be offended!!!}

Anyway, we had a really good time and other than having to take out a second mortgage on our house, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Check out the dessert we shared…………..Double Dark Chocolate Cake!!

Double Dark Chocolate Cake

Now before ya’ll go and get all judgy about us eating this cake, remember its DARK chocolate.

Dark chocolate is good for you.

Plus this was DOUBLE dark chocolate which means it’s TWICE as healthy as regular chocolate.

So it’s all good!!  🙂

The highlight of the week had to be our car-ride entertainment.

Belle, our self appointed Cruise Director, brought some books to read to us in the car.  And the books she brought are probably the funniest books ever written.

Junie B. Jones!!

I would like to tell you that we read those books to please Belle but, too bad for us, there were times when Belle wasn’t even in the CAR!!!

There we sat, three fully growed adults, laughing til we cried over June B. Jones!!!

Wowie wow wow!!

Remember back at the beginning of this yarn, way back when????

Remember that I mentioned a little something about drama????

Oh yes, well here it is:

Saturday, Mom & Dad’s car broke down.

Like BROKE down!!

So Marti and Kenny were going to try to fix it then come on over to the convention; only too bad for them, they couldn’t fix it and ended up waiting for a coon’s age to get a tow truck there to tow the vehicle back to Frankfort.

After they sat on the side of the interstate for half of forever, I got a text from Marti that said “Just changed clothes, undies and all, sitting on the side of the road.  If I ever get to NQC don’t come near me.  I never got my shower today!  My hair is a deflated mess!”

I don’t know if it’s because I’m such a good sister (sympathetic and all) but that just cracked me right up!!!

Yes, it’s sad that they missed the last night.

Yes, it’s sad that they didn’t get to eat yummy cake.

Yes, it’s sad that we talked about them while they were gone.

But, oh my, she changed her clothes AND UNDIES on the side of the road!!!!

And then TOLD IT TO A GIRL WITH A BLOG!!!!

Silly Marti!!!  🙂

Cool Dip, Hot Stink & Mascara Tail

Well, it looks like we are at the end of probably the weirdest summer I can remember.

And it looks like it’s our fault!!

We didn’t do it on purpose but apparently the mere fact that we bought a pool triggered the coldest, rainiest summer on record.  At least in MY records!

At first I thought it was Mom and Dad’s fault; what with all the tree planting we did back at the beginning of summer.  It’s been great for the trees…..water, water everywhere!!

But that doesn’t really account for all the coldness.

Last night the Mr. and I decided to take a dip in the pool and just about froze our tutti-fruitties off!!!

But you know what it’s NOT too cold for????

MOSQUITOES!!!

Those buggers where chewing me up last night so between that and the icy depths, I didn’t swim too long.

When we came in, there was a smell.

And it wasn’t me!!

Now you know how I am with smells.

Doesn’t matter if it’s a good smell or a bad smell, if it’s strong, I’m a-gaggin’!!!

This particular smell wasn’t all that strong but it was “hot”.

I knew that the kitchen garbage needed to go out.  I had cut up some cabbage and thrown some outer leaves in the garbage and I had made chicken the night before so the nasty Styrofoam platter they put raw chicken on, along with whatever in this world the coushie thing is under the chicken, was also in that can.

And that’s just a recipe for all kinds of stink.

But it shouldn’t have been hot stink!

Then the Mr. went into his office to do some financials on his computer (which is usually a barrel of laughs!) and his computer wouldn’t come on.  I had used it earlier and left it on since I knew he would need it.

And now it’s dead.

Thus, we found the hot stink…………..burned up power supply.

Not only burned up, but dripping whatever goo is inside of it.

Of course, the Mr. wasn’t too, too happy about this.

After all, once the financials were done, zombies needed to be killed!

Hopefully his new power supply will come in today or tomorrow so the Half Life world will once again be zombie-free!

{Mr., is Half Life a game or did I make that one up??!?!?!?!}

And that brings us to Friday!

Praise the Lord!!

Why is it that short weeks are always the longest?????

Isn’t that an oxymoron or something???

I dragged myself out of bed and did my own zombie impression of getting ready for work.  Taj sat on the bed with me while I was getting my makeup on, though he made a quick trip down to the kitchen to see if the Mr. would share his cereal.  Then he was back up for nap #24 of the day.

Taj takes lots of naps.

Once I finally got my face on and got all my “paint” back in my makeup bag, I looked over at Taj and he was so darn cute laying there on the bed that I had to lean over and give him a good pettin’.

He loves his pettin’s.

That’s when the commercial came on.

I know you’ve seen it.

Two cats singing the “Meow” song for Meow Mix.

meow mix

In case you haven’t hear it, the lyrics are:

Meow meow meow meow.

Meow meow meow meow.

Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow.

Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow.

Me-ow!

It’s pretty catchy!

Well, as soon as Taj hears the first syllable of the first Meow, he’s on his feet, barking his furry head off and smacking me in the face with that fluffy tail of his.

Right in my face.

Right where I just put on mascara.

I’m not sure if he’s still got mascara on his tail but it sure took me half of forever to get it off my face!!!

Stupid cats!!!
